The Doctor's Visit
So I went to the doctor on Monday and came away with I'm fat and lazy! Now tell me something I didn't already know!! I didn't really get a diagnosis, but he told me that I needed to strengthen the muscles around my joints so that will strengthen the tendons in my joints. He recommended physical therapy for my back and knees, or at least exercise such at pilates or water aerobics. He also did some lab work on my joints, but I'm not sure what that will tell me. He said that he was leaning toward rheumatic tendencies because of my family history (my paternal grandmother had rheumatoid arthritis) and my age. He said I was too young to be in this much pain. I thanked him and told him I thought I was too young too!! Heehee!! So I am checking into physical therapy today, to see how much it costs and how much my insurance will cover, and compare it to an exercise program that will target my back and knees. I have gotten up and walked the past two mornings. And just to update on my water excursion, I have not had but one small cup of soda since last Monday. We were at Magic Springs yesterday and the soda fountain we stopped at didn't have a water "spicket". But I can't say that stopping the aspartame has alleviated any my pain. I think I'll stick with the water and see if it will help get some of this weight off. I did learn that my home scales are off by about 10 pounds and weigh heavier that the Dr.'s scales. WooHoo!! So now my goal is to eat less, exercise more. YUCK!!

I have a pilates video and I HATE it. Water aerobics might be better. I found that pilates hurt my neck, at least with the exercises on my video. I bet they have water aerobics classes at the Sheridan Health Club. I prefer my treadmill that I bought and I've been proud of myself for getting up early the past week and walking in the mornings.

The pilates killed me. I felt worse than before I started. Like LeLe said, it hurt my neck very badly. I'm not convinced they are what you need for joint pain. The water aerobics are highly recommended because they are low impact on your joints. Aspertame gave me headaches, but didn't seem to bother the rest of my body. I have heard that it is really bad for you.
Give me a call whenever you get those lab test back. I can help.
I hate to hear you are in lots of pain. I delt with the same issues starting in 2000 and fought it everyday for 4 years. It's a matter of re-adjusting and finding what works.
My sister's good friend, Lynn, used to take the water aerobics class at the Sheridan Health club deal and absolutely loved it. She had to stop because now she's chasing two little ones all the time. I love going to Curves because it helps me hold myself accountable. For one I'm paying for it and the other thing is I don't want to look like a ding dong for paying for it and not going. Its great for strength training and its low impact. You do it at your own pace and its all hydraulic machines so no messing with changing weights. Good stuff!
Oh and Curves is a Christian lead company...Christian music a lot of the time and I love that!
Gosh I should so do a commercial..haha
